Is your Colon calling SOS?
If your colon could speak it would likely be asking for help, and that’s why The OM Integrative Center is so passionate about colon cleansing and health.
It’s no secret that poor digestion is a chronic issue for countless Americans and the result of an overworked digestive system that is bombarded with fast foods, processed and genetically modified foods, toxins, alcohol consumption, medications and stress.
The OM Integrative Center responds to your colon’s SOS call by offering state-of-the art, Colon Hydrotherapy treatment that effectively cleanses your colon, detoxes and reduces digestive discomfort by flushing out waste material that your body may not be removing effectively.
Conducted in a premium hydrotherapy suite, you are invited to relax as the gentle process of our closed system, and the knowledge of our certified colon therapist, begin to do the work to rid your colon and digestive system of waste and toxins.
We want you to feel completely at ease and reassured by this gentle process so have developed an FAQ section that can be accessed below.
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the Colon?
The colon is the last five to six feet of the intestine. It is a hollow, sausage-like organ made up layers of tissue that move digested food along in a wave like motion, known as peristalsis, to be eliminated.
What is Colon hydrotherapy?
Colon Hydrotherapy is also referred to as Colonic Irrigation or a Colonic. Colon Hydrotherapy uses gentle, filtered, temperature controlled water for inner cleansing of the colon, essentially ‘cleaning the pipes’. Over the years, with poor digestive function, the digestive system may not effectively eliminate waste resulting in an accumulation of fecal matter including bad bacteria, mold, yeast and parasites. If stored for too long it leads to an unhealthy digestive environment which may result in symptoms such as bloating, gas, headaches, skin conditions, decreased tolerance to pain, mood issues, and immune system challenges.
How does Colon hydrotherapy work?
Once you are comfortably positioned on the Colon Hydrotherapy table, on a warm, Amethyst Bio-Mat, you are completely covered by your spa robe for comfort and blankets to maintain your privacy. A sterile, disposable speculum is lubricated then inserted into the rectum; our therapist will start the procedure by turning on the water flow allowing body temperature water to start gently flowing into the colon to stimulate the body’s own peristaltic motion.
This flow of water continues until you feel "full" or light cramping is experienced. At this point, therapist will release the water and the fecal matter is eliminated through a waste tube in a hygienic manner; no oder or mess. This process of water going in and water coming out- bringing waste with it- is repeated until approximately 5- 8 gallons of water has been used, but no longer than 30 minutes on the table. Each time the therapist releases the water, you are also releasing waste material from your digestive tract, which may not have been removed without the procedure. A registered nurse and/ or other trained and experienced Colon Hydrotherapist is always present during the session, so you get to just relax and release.
What colonic system do we use at The OM Integrative Center?
Our colonic treatment is with the latest closed method of hydrotherapy system, a Hydro-Sans Plus. This is a Class II medical device approved and registered with the FDA. Our highly qualified staff will personally be with you at all stages of your session. Comfort, safety, and clinical support are of highest priory.
How many colonics will I need?
A series of three to four treatments are initially recommended for a comprehensive cleanse of the colon. This isn’t to say that a single treatment is of no value, people with regular bowel habits that just need to detox from a round of antibiotics, just feeling sluggish, or are experiencing a cold, flu symptoms or headache most often just need one session to reset the immune system. Please speak to our therapists as we can assist you with individual recommendations for your current health needs.
Having a colonic is like giving your body a good internal cleanse. Why not give it a complete clean by supporting it with nutrients such as herbs, enzymes, cleansing juices, vitamins and minerals by installation after the colonic? We have qualified staff who can discuss these options with you. Don’t stop at detoxing; rejuvenate your body health so you can achieve optimal health within the clinic. We offer Oxygen infusions through our Hydro Sans device as well as additives at the end of your cleansing session. Ask about what might be the right boost for your session.
Is it embarrassing to get a colonic?
No, you will be very comfortable in a private room with healthcare professionals who hold confidentiality and safety to the highest regard for everyone we serve. The Colon Hydrotherapist will be right there with you to administer session and meet your comfort needs; they fully appreciate the sensitivity of the colonic procedure and will help you to feel at ease. After the initial insertion of a small catheter into the rectum, you will be completely covered. During the procedure, sterile tubing carries the waste material out to maintain a hygienic environment.
What can I expect afterwards?
Most likely, you will feel great. You may feel lighter, enjoy a sense of wellbeing and will be able to go about the rest of your day with no restrictions. For a minority of people, especially after the first colon hydrotherapy, it may trigger bowel movements for the next few hours but there won’t be any urgency or discomfort. If you are feeling unsure about how your body will respond we suggest staying in the clinic for 30 minutes after the colonic. If you have any concerns, we are here to assist you.
What if I have my period?
No problem – it is perfectly safe and beneficial to have a colonic during your period.
Will a colonic make me constipated or give me diarrhea?
The most common post-colonic digestive response is to have a slight delay in bowel movements, followed by bowel motions that are more complete and easier to move. If the colon is weak and sluggish, there may be no bowel movement for several days following. This may indicate a slight weakness in the colon and may indicate that it requires strengthening and healing.
Only occasionally diarrhea or loose bowel movements may be experienced. This could be due to the extra water introduced into the colon with the procedure. If this occurs, it is generally of short duration, anything that continues needs be monitored.
I have been suffering from constipation for a long time, will colonics help?
Colon Hydrotherapy is extremely effective in removing a build-up of fecal matter in the colon that may not be eliminated due to digestive problems such as constipation. After a series of colonics you should experience improved waste removal resulting in bowel movements that are more complete and easier to move.
